The AR-10 ACCESSORIES basic design is credited to Eugene Stoner at Armalite, then a division of the Fairchild Aircraft Corporation. The innovative features of the AR-10 would eventually be developed into the U.S. Army’s M16 rifle. While mostly original, the AR-10 built upon previously proven designs. From the FAL it took the hinged receiver system allowing the rifle to be opened for cleaning much like a break-action shotgun. The bolt locking mechanism is similar to the Johnson M1941 Rifle (itself an adaptation of the Browning designed Remington model 8 bolt). From the German FG42 and Johnson Light Machinegun came the idea of straight-line stocks to reduce muzzle climb in fully-automatic fire. Fairchild was an aircraft manufacturer, and the use of plastics, titanium, and aluminum were common in the aircraft industry at the time, though not generally used in firearms.

The weight of the barrel will only refer to whether the barrel is a “heavy” one or not. The heavy-barrel (HB) designation means that there is more metal there. Some of these taper at different points, either underneath the handguards or from the front sight on. The HB whose thickness does not vary (i.e. is maintained from back to front) offers the most durable design. The 16″ barrels are available in a lightweight configuration, M4 profile (thin under handguards, thick outside handguards, and with a cutout to allow mounting of M203, and in a heavy barrel. For this rifle, a lightweight or M4 Gun Magazin profile offers the most advantages as far as weight and handling.

Stainless steel 45-70
I’m thinking of selling my Storm and getting a stainless steel 45-70. Nice little gun. Anyone have one of the new 45-70s? This one is pretty small.

$350′ll buy you a pretty beat up Storm. Their prices are actually going up, especially the 45acp ($744.) In 9mm you can et hi-cap mags and it makes a good companion gun to the M92, despite the bad trigger. I’m going to try to unload mine tomorrow at the gun show and get something else. 8 round mags are just not good enough for that type of gun. I was also displeased with the fact that they decided not to mold in the top rail and made it an expensive accessory. The gun is made of molded plastic, it should have has a few more features. You can futz around with speed loaders and speed strips if you want, but why not just use a semi-automatic pistol instead? I mean, there are a lot of great qualities about wheel guns, and they’re very stylish to boot, but if you’re going to keep a carry piece unloaded, why not use something that loads magazines? And while we’re on that train of thought, why not just keep the gun loaded and have it securely fastened in half-cocked position? De-cockers rule.

I have allways heard how the lugers were replaced because they were just too hand fitted and over designed too many parts.ect.
Well it is a big known fact that the P-38 took there place,and it has 50 pieces including the Mag and only one screw(the grip screw).
The Luger has 40 pieces including (two screws grip screws) when you take apart the luger you will spend hours looking for the hammer,and wonder how the hell does the trigger make this dude Luger fire!
Then when it all comes to you it hits you like a bolt out of the blue,sheer perfection!
It wasn’t about War production this pistol was made in 1900,it is and was a very great auto pistol!
It may not be a good war pistol,but it damn sure is a great pistol!
One must remember that many of the pistols were made in commercial grades(when no other autos were offered)and many Americans owened them.
Mine is such a 1920’s model(7.65)probably owened by a rancher,dentist,or such!
My other German Gun is a P-38 non import German ruger p 85,not near as tight but you know this gun is nasty(may have been used p89 ruger us)!
But the Walther is no way a better made gun than the Luger!
It is my first Luger and God knows I wish I had never bought one,cause now I see a lot of Lugers in the ruger p 90 !

Firing controls on the Type 21 Rifle will be familiar to anyone acquainted with the standard AR-15 type rifle. A shell deflector keeps hot brass away from the shooter’s face. The magazine release button, Carbon Fiber charging handle and takedown and pivot pins are all in standard AR-15 positions. For additional safety, the Safety Selector Lever markings are color-coded on both sides of the Lower Receiver to quickly determine the firing status of the rifle.
