Owning or making an NFA weapon
It is illegal for anyone to have possession of an NFA weapon that is not registered to them in the NFA Registry. It is also not possible for anyone, except government entities, to register an existing NFA weapon that is not registered, except immediately after one is made by a class 2 NFA manufacturer. An individual otherwise able to own any gun under federal law can receive and own any NFA weapon (local law permitting, ATF cannot approve a transfer where federal, state or local law would be violated by the transferee possessing the weapon in question, see 26 USC sec. 5812(a)(6)) on a Form 4, “Application for Tax Paid Transfer and Registration of Firearm”. Non-FFL holders may only purchase an NFA weapon from a dealer or individual within their own state. If the weapon is located out of state it must be transferred to a class 3 dealer within the state, before transfer to the non FFL purchaser. C&R FFL holders (type 03) may purchase C&R NFA guns from out of state dealers and individuals. Type 01 FFL holders may purchase any fully transferrable (no dealer samples, see below) NFA weapon, from an out of state source. If the FFL holder is an individual he must submit fingerprints, photograph, and the law enforcement certification.

Eotech 557

The new 557.AR223 has been developed to optimize the functionality of the HWS. The buttons have been moved from the back to the left side for instant access, allowing a magnifier, night vision, or a back up iron sight to fit closely to the HWS body. This new button position allows the user to operate the HWS function switches easier than ever before. Additionally, a portion of the front base has been raised to allow the sight to fit over standard hand guards found on many M-4 or M-16 style weapons. The 557.AR223 is configured with a new ballistic matching reticle image for the M4 carbine. The battle tested circle/dot reticle will be offered along with a series of 1 MOA aiming dots that are vertically aligned and calibrated specifically for the ballistic drop of .223 caliber ammunition. The reticle provides 4 aiming dots for target distances of 0-300m, 400m, 500m, and 600m. The use of a magnifier is stongly recommended. * Buttons on left side to work specifically with NV or magnifiers * AA Battery model (supports Lithium or Alkaline) * Ballistic reticle specific to .223 caliber munitions * Compatible with Gen I-III+ Night Vision Systems (tandem operation) * Raised 7mm base
